This hike invites us to discover a different face of the Sierra Norte following the traces of history through changing landscapes and hidden places.
Starting in Lachatao we descend through lower mountain elevations on a four-hour hike surrounded by forests rich in bromeliads, air plants, and subtropical vegetation.
As we walk, the landscape tells stories of changing ways of living and using the land.
Our destination is Cinco Señores, the ruins of a former gold hacienda hidden in the mountains.
A quiet place that invites reflection on the region’s layered history and the relationship between people, resources, and landscape.
From there, the trail continues down to the river before ending at a local trout farm, where we enjoy a well-deserved lunch in a peaceful natural setting.
