El Pacifico
Beaches, Wildlife & Coastal Regeneration
Ruta: Del Cafe y la Playa
Travel directly to Oaxaca’s Pacific coast via the new highway and arrive in just a few hours, leaving more time to slow down and experience the ocean. We stay for two nights in San Agustinillo — in our eyes one of the most beautiful beaches of the Oaxacan coast.
From our base, we explore the region’s extraordinary mix of marine life, coastal ecosystems, and inspiring community projects.
We visit Punta Cometa for sunset, a spectacular viewpoint where the mountains meet the Pacific and the horizon seems endless.
In Mazunte, we discover the story of a community that transformed itself, from sea turtle hunting toward conservation, ecotourism, and new livelihoods, including the natural cosmetics project.
At La Ventanilla, a community-run ecotourism project, we glide through a freshwater lagoon observing crocodiles, seabirds, and the rich coastal ecosystem.
And we venture into the open ocean by boat.
With some luck, we may encounter dolphins and sea turtles and during the winter months ( from November to March) even migrating whales.
This journey is an invitation to experience the coast not only as a destination, but through its landscapes, wildlife, and the communities that help protect it.
For those who wish to go deeper, this experience combines beautifully with our Ancient Route to the Coast — creating a longer journey from Oaxaca’s valleys and mountains all the way to the Pacific, following the changing ecosystems and rhythms of the land.
